As was the case for Gustavo, pilot training in Mexico can be cost prohibitive. Determined to realize his dream of flying, Gustavo chose a lucrative career in Computer Systems Engineering and graduated from University, Irapuato City, in 2003 with his degree. To further his career, and to assimilate his aviation pursuits into his profession, Gustavo accepted an appointment with his government as a Communication and Transports Secretary at the General Direction of Civil Aviation and as an Aeronautical Verifier Inspector at the Bajio International Airport. His duties are many and varied and include: Aircraft Inspections (physical and legal), Pilot Licenses Revalidation, Accident and Incident Investigations, Air Transport Companies Inspections (technical and Administrative), Aviation School Inspections, Airport Installation Certifications and Ramp Inspections.
In 2006, he was transferred to Celaya Regional Airport. Finally, in 2007 Gustavo could finance his private pilot training, which he completed in seven months! He is currently nearing the end of his Commercial training and will complete his certificate in his newly acquired Cessna 172 from Lear Stevens Aviation Services, Inc.
