Brian Miller, a recent addition to the Lear Stevens Aviation Services team decided to join forces with us after a very frustrating experience, while purchasing his own personal aircraft. As a seasoned flight instructor and corporate pilot, Brian has always enjoyed the challenge of un-complicating the process of learning to fly for his students, and now he's striving to achieve the same goal for the aircraft buyer and seller.
His initial desire to become an aviator, was inspired by the aviation DNA that pulsed through his veins from birth. His parents and grandparents spent much of their lives in aviation. During many of Brian's early years, his father, Ken Miller, taught skydivers at the Suffolk Municipal Airport where his grandparents, George and Elizabeth Cales, operated the airport. It was not until 1985 that Brian could actually begin the process of learning to fly. He chose South Norfolk Airport, operated by the Stevens' family for his first lessons and his first solo.
In 1994, Brian secured his instrument license with our sister company, Curtis Eads Flight School, located in Chesapeake, VA, where he currently instructs part time, VFR and IFR fixed wing, students. As an early pilot, he flew banners along the coast line of Virginia Beach, VA for the Stevens' family business, then went on to an aviation career matched by few. Turning his hobby into a business, Brian was committed to never loosing site of his passion for soaring high above our magnificent countryside. While attending Old Dominion University, Brian began a career in customer service and training with Continental Airlines until one day by chance, he experienced an opportunity that changed his career path. He flew a Cessna 421 and was hooked on becoming a corporate pilot.
Changing course midstream was not an easy transition for this young pilot, but like many spirited endeavors previously encountered, Brian was up for the challenge. After entering an aviation essay competition - and winning - he wisely applied the award money toward learning to fly helicopters. Since then, he has added his Commercial, Instrument and Flight Instructor Helicopter ratings to his already impressive pedigree.
Brian's ratings include: ATP, Commercial SEL, CFI, CFII, MEI, Commercial Helicopter, Instrument helicopter CFI Helicopter and type ratings in: B 300/350, C 750 (Citation X) HS-125 (Hawker) and CL-601 (Challenger)
Specialties include: Various single and multi engine aircraft, 300/400 Series Cessna, King Air, and Helicopters.
Brian is a straight shooter, who tells it like it is. He will honestly, and with dogged determination, make your next aircraft sale or acquisition seamless from the beginning to end, for you.
